Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

Frontiers in Applied Physics, Materials Science, and Nanotechnology is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal focused on bridging the gap between fundamental research and real-world applications in physics, materials science, and nanotechnology. It aims to publish innovative solutions with technological, industrial, and societal impacts. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary research addressing challenges in diverse fields in applied physics, Materials Science, and Nanotechnology.

Scope:

Core Focus Areas:

Applied Physics: Research that applies physics principles to develop new technologies and solve practical problems. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, optics, electromagnetism, condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, and thermodynamics. Applied physics papers should clearly demonstrate how scientific knowledge translates into technological innovations or solutions with practical applications.

Materials Science: Studies on the synthesis, characterization, and application of new materials. This includes research on advanced materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites, with particular emphasis on materials with tailored properties for specific industrial, electronic, energy, biomedical applications, etc. The journal encourages submissions that showcase the relationship between materials structure, processing, and performance.

Nanotechnology: Research that focuses on the design, fabrication, and application of nanoscale materials, devices, and systems. This includes:

  • Nanomaterials: Synthesis and application of nanostructured thin films, surface modification techniques, and quantum dots and doping, with an emphasis on novel properties and functionality at the nanoscale.
  • Nanodevices and Sensors: Development of nanoscale devices such as nano-transistors, nanoelectronics, and nanosensors, including applications in fields such as healthcare, environmental monitoring, and energy.
  • Nanofabrication and Characterization: Techniques for creating and characterizing nanostructures, including lithography, self-assembly, and advanced microscopy techniques.
  • Nanobiotechnology: Applications of nanotechnology in the life sciences, including drug delivery, tissue engineering, and diagnostics.
  • Nanophotonics and Nanoelectronics: Research that explores light-matter interactions at the nanoscale, including plasmonics, metamaterials, and the development of next-generation electronic devices with enhanced performance.
  • Environmental and Sustainability Applications: Research focused on the role of nanotechnology in addressing environmental challenges, such as the development of nanomaterials for water purification, energy storage, and renewable energy technologies.

Technological Integration: Research that explores the intersection of applied physics and materials science with engineering and emerging technologies, such as energy storage, nanotechnology, and medical devices.

Interdisciplinary Research: Integrates physics, materials science, chemistry, biology, and engineering to address technological challenges, including sustainability, energy, and smart devices.

Manuscript Categories:

  • Original Research Articles: Comprehensive reports on significant experimental, theoretical, or computational research with high potential for application.
  • Review Articles: Critical overviews that synthesize existing research and point toward future research and technology directions.
  • Short Communications: Brief reports on preliminary findings, innovative concepts, or early-stage technologies with immediate relevance.
